France midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery has stated that the "Les Bleus" are entering their World Cup 2026 semi-final against Spain with a strong desire for revenge following their defeat in the Euro 2024 semi-finals, emphasizing that the current French team is different and more prepared to compete for the title.
Zaire-Emery stated: "We have a different team, and we are ready. We want to win against Spain and avenge our Euro loss. We must be at the top of our focus because it’s a semi-final match, and we will give everything we have."
He added that the diversity of the origins of the French national team players is a source of strength for the team, responding to controversial statements from former Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who claimed that the French national team "does not include French players."
He stated: "This team includes players from different backgrounds and origins, and this is what France represents. We are a united group and happy to play together, and that is the most important thing."
