Italy's national football team manager Paolo Maldini has revealed that the federation has reached out to both Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola to discuss the possibility of them taking over as head coach of the Azzurri. Maldini confirmed that the search for the most suitable coach to lead the national team is still ongoing.
Maldini explained that the federation first reached out to Ancelotti, before opening communication channels with Guardiola, noting that the goal is to sign one of the best coaches in the world, even if it requires waiting longer before announcing the new manager.
It has been pointed out that Ancelotti will continue his mission with the Brazil national team, while negotiations with Guardiola remain complicated due to his financial demands and desire for a break after his time with Manchester City. Despite this, the Italian Football Federation has not closed the door on either option.
The Italian Football Federation's move comes after the continued vacancy of the head coach position, as the new management led by Paolo Maldini seeks to rebuild the national team and establish a long-term project to return Italy to international competition following recent failures.
