Aston Villa has officially announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder João Gomes from Wolverhampton, as part of their preparations for the new season, following a final agreement between the two clubs.
Gomez has signed a contract that extends for five years until the summer of 2031, with the deal valued at around £35 million, making him one of Aston Villa's standout signings in the current summer transfer window.
The signing of the Brazilian international comes at the request of coach Unai Emery, who aims to strengthen the midfield with a player known for his physicality and ball-winning ability, following the impressive performances he delivered with Wolverhampton since joining the team from Flamengo.
João Gomes is set to join Aston Villa's training camp ahead of the new season, with the coaching staff counting on him to be a key figure in midfield, as the club aims to compete for top positions both domestically and in Europe.
