Barcelona has submitted a request to La Liga to play all their home matches in the first half of the 2027/28 season at Montjuïc, due to the installation work on the roof of Spotify Camp Nou.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", the roof installation works will begin in June 2027 and will last approximately four and a half months. However, the club preferred to adopt a precautionary plan in anticipation of any delays that may affect the project's completion date.

The source added that Barcelona also wishes to host all its group stage matches in the Champions League at Montjuïc, in adherence to UEFA regulations that require playing the initial stage matches at the same venue.

The report noted that the team had previously played at Montjuïc during the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons. The stadium also hosted several matches for the team at the beginning of last season before returning to Spotify Camp Nou.

This season, Barcelona will play all their matches at home, hosting the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 19, while their first official match at Spotify Camp Nou will be against Rayo Vallecano on August 29 or 30.

The development work at Camp Nou continues, with Limak planning to gradually open part of the third tier during October, with full operation expected throughout the season.
