Hans Flick has decided to keep young midfielder Brian Farinas with the first team during the preparation for the new season, after Barcelona halted his transfer to Girona following Frenkie de Jong's injury, according to "Mundo Deportivo".

The newspaper reported that Farinas' transfer was close to completion, but De Jong's injury prompted the coaching staff to delay his departure in order to assess his performance closely before making a final decision regarding his future.

The 20-year-old player enjoys great confidence from Barcelona Athletic's coach, Juliano Belletti, who confirmed that he is capable of playing in multiple positions in midfield, praising his character, technical quality, and ability to influence the game.

Farinhas featured in 33 out of 34 league matches with Barcelona Athletic last season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. He was also a key player in the team that won the UEFA Youth Champions League.

Farinhas joined the La Masia academy in 2018 from Villarreal, and he continued to develop until he became one of the leaders and standout players for Barcelona Atletic last season.

Barcelona sees the current preparation period as an important opportunity for Flick to assess Fati's potential before making a definitive decision about his future.
