Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has spotlighted young midfielder Ebrima Tonkara, calling him the "next star" after his standout performance in the friendly match where Barcelona triumphed over Europe 4-1, scoring one of the goals and catching the eye with his display.
Tunkara is 16 years old and plays as an attacking midfielder. Born in Gambia, he moved to Spain with his family and joined La Masia Academy in 2018, continuing his development to become one of the club's most promising talents.
The newspaper confirmed that Barcelona views Tonkara as a project for a future star, especially after he was awarded the Best Player in the U17 European Championship this summer, along with participating in first-team training during the pre-season under Hans Flick.
The coaching staff hopes that the young player will continue to develop during the upcoming season, given the strong confidence he enjoys within the club, making him one of the names likely to break into the first team in the coming years.
