Walid Salah Abdel-Latif, the former star of Zamalek, has asserted that Al Ahly is not entitled to participate in the upcoming season of the Champions League. He emphasized that any amendments to the Champions League regulations should be implemented starting from the season after next, not the upcoming one.
Walid Salah Abdellatif stated in an interview on the "Number One" program on CBC: "I have great confidence in Sayed Abdel Hafiz at Al Ahly, and it is enough that he brings back the club's former players to work within the club, which is not new for the club."
He added: "Al Ahly's new signings are very good and will add to the team, especially since they are young players."
Regarding the amendments to the CAF Champions League regulations, he stated: "How can the regulations of the CAF Champions League be changed this year while Al Ahly is participating? It would be better to implement any modifications starting from the season after next, not the upcoming season."
He stated: "I have no problem with CAF changing the regulations, but why are they being amended for Al Ahly's participation for marketing reasons? Al Ahly does not have the right to participate in the Africa Champions League according to the current regulations."
