Lionel Messi continues to hold on to his habits associated with what is known in Argentina as Kabbalah, a practice believed by its followers to bring good luck through the repetition of actions previously linked to positive outcomes, ahead of the 2026 World Cup final.
According to "Mundo Deportivo", the captain of the Argentine national team posted on his Instagram account the same message he wrote after qualifying for the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, which read: "To the final, we showed our strength again to deliver another great match, thank you very much to everyone who believed in this group, let's go Argentina."
The newspaper clarified that the repetition of the message was not due to a lack of creativity, as some thought, but stemmed from Messi's conviction that repeating the same behavior that preceded his 2022 World Cup victory could bring him luck once again and ward off what is known in Argentina as bad luck.
This belief is not limited to Messi alone, as several players from the Argentine national team are keen to repeat specific details during training camps, such as staying in the same room numbers and maintaining the same roommate distribution as in previous tournaments.
The Spanish newspaper added that one of the most notable rituals is the meeting between Messi and Rodrigo De Paul with the president of the Argentine Football Association to drink mate and take a commemorative photo before each match, believing that this tradition brings them good luck.
In contrast, there remains a prevailing belief within Argentina regarding one of the former presidents of the republic, who is referred to as the person whose name is not mentioned, due to the reputation associated with him as a symbol of misfortune in the eyes of many.
