Nottingham Forest has officially announced the signing of Austrian midfielder Xaver Schlager on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with RB Leipzig. This marks the first signing for the team under the management of Oliver Glasner.
Schlager, 28, has signed a two-year contract with the English club, reuniting with Glasner, who previously managed him during their time at Wolfsburg.
The Austrian international joins after four seasons with RB Leipzig, during which he played numerous matches in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. He also represented his country in the 2026 World Cup, bringing significant experience to Nottingham Forest's midfield.
Xaver Schlager has expressed his happiness about embarking on a new experience in the Premier League, confirming that working again with Oliver Glasner was one of the key reasons that led him to choose a move to Nottingham Forest this summer.
