Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest developments regarding the future of Spanish star Rodri, a Manchester City player, amid links to a transfer to Real Madrid in the upcoming period.

Romano confirmed that Manchester City has made an official offer to Rodri for a contract renewal, noting that the decision now rests with the player. He can either agree to continue with the English club or opt for an additional season before leaving for free in the summer of 2027 after his contract ends.

Romano explained that Rodri dreams of returning to Spain and wearing the Real Madrid shirt, but this transfer does not seem close at the moment.

The deal is completely on hold due to the position of Real Madrid President, Florentino Pérez, who sees no necessity to move for the Spanish midfielder at this stage, leaving Rodri's dream transfer to the royal club frozen until further notice.

Rodri has made a notable impact with the Spanish national team at the 2026 World Cup, following two very challenging seasons with Manchester City due to injuries.
