Egyptian football star and coach Shawky Gharib has stressed the importance of maintaining the core squad of Al Ahly in the upcoming period, affirming that the team already possesses outstanding players in all positions. This is a crucial step towards a strong return to the podium and competing for titles.

In an interview with journalist Medhat Shalaby on the "Ya Masaa Al Anwar" program on MBC Masr 2, coach Shawky Gharib emphasized that Al Ahly is a prestigious club with highly skilled players. However, he noted that the team did not deliver the expected performance during the last season, which led to their exit without winning any titles.

He added: "For Al Ahly to remain competitive, the core squad must be preserved, and the departure of Mostafa Shobair and Imam Ashour, if it happens, will significantly impact the team."

Ghareeb pointed out that player Ahmad Sayed "Zizo" faced difficult challenges recently, noting that he succeeded in delivering strong performances before the World Cup, alongside his remarkable and standout appearances in several friendly matches.

It was explained that Zizo's absence from the World Cup was a significant factor affecting the player, but he has a great opportunity to restore his level and return to the form that fans are accustomed to.
