Spain's victory in the 2026 World Cup final against Argentina was not just about lifting the trophy. The national team also returned home with the biggest financial reward ever offered by FIFA in the tournament's history.
According to "Mundo Deportivo", the Spanish national team will receive $50 million, equivalent to around €44 million, which is the highest financial reward for a World Cup champion. This amount is also $8 million more than the bonus Argentina received after winning the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The newspaper added that the Argentina national team, which finished the tournament as runners-up, will receive $33 million, while England, who secured third place, will earn $29 million, and France, who came in fourth, will get $27 million.
The report indicated that the edition hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico saw a record total prize money, after the International Football Association Board approved a budget of $871 million, equivalent to approximately €727 million, to be distributed among the participating teams.
This figure reflects the significant increase in prize money allocated by FIFA for the 2026 edition, making it the most lucrative in World Cup history, both in terms of the champion's prize and the total bonuses designated for participating teams.
