Brighton has officially announced the signing of young Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year.

At just 19 years old, Vuskovic is regarded as one of the rising defensive talents in Europe, with Brighton's coach, Fabian Hürtsler, confirming that the club has closely monitored the player's development over the past few years.

Hürtsler stated: "Luka has made a fantastic start to his football career, and he demonstrated last season his ability to play at a very high level. We aim to help him develop further within our environment."

He added: "Despite the significant hype surrounding his arrival, he is still a young player who needs time to adapt to the demands of Brighton and the Premier League, but we are confident in his ability to successfully navigate this phase."

Vuskovic progressed through the Hajduk Split academy and made his first-team debut in February 2023, just two days after his sixteenth birthday, becoming one of the youngest players to appear in Croatian league history.

He had loan spells with Radomiak Radom in Poland and Westerlo in Belgium before moving to Tottenham, where he caught attention with Hamburg last season.

The Croatian defender has won four monthly awards for Best Young Player in the Bundesliga, was named Best Young Player of the Season, and made the Bundesliga Team of the Season. His excellence is not limited to defense, as he scored 16 goals in 78 club matches, along with one goal in six appearances for the Croatian national team. He also won the Best Goal award in Belgium for 2024 and the same award in the Bundesliga for 2025.

Brighton hopes that signing Vuskovic will be a long-term investment in their defense, given the immense potential the player has shown at such a young age.
