The investigating court number 22 in Barcelona has decided to archive the case filed against Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, over alleged fraud, after finding insufficient grounds to continue the criminal proceedings.
According to "Sport" newspaper, the case arose from a complaint filed by a woman who invested €50,000 in 2016 in two projects linked to Core Store and CSSB Limited, before accusing Laporta and others of fraud.
Joan Laporta, along with Rafa Yusti, Xavier Sala i Martín, and Joan Oliver, appeared in court last January as suspects after the total investments from the complainant reached €91,500 in the two companies.
Judge Marta Bou Jané confirmed that there are no justifications for implementing the procedures requested by the representatives of the complainant, noting that the decision is subject to appeal within the legal deadlines.
Sport added that the judge found no evidence in the complaint or the documents submitted to prove the existence of agreements or actions of a criminal nature by the accused.
The report confirmed that the issue, if a dispute exists, pertains to a potential contractual breach that must be examined in civil court, not through criminal procedures.
