AS Roma has entered negotiations with Chelsea to acquire French defender Axel Disasi during the summer transfer window, as part of their efforts to strengthen the defense ahead of the new season.
According to French outlet "Foot Mercato", AS Roma's management is in contact with both Chelsea and the player's representatives to discuss the possibility of completing the transfer. This comes in a summer where the Italian club has struggled to secure several of its targets, despite qualifying for the Champions League.
The report indicated that Roma has returned to the Premier League transfer market after losing the race to sign West Ham United winger Krystian Samerville, who opted to join Saudi club Al Hilal.
The source added that Disasi, 28, spent the last six months of last season on loan at West Ham, where he played alongside Samerville before the team was relegated from the Premier League.
Foot Mercato has confirmed that Chelsea, who signed the French defender from Monaco for €45 million in the summer of 2023, has set a price of €20 million for his sale, despite him being under contract until June 2029.
Meanwhile, Roma is looking to reach an agreement to sign Disasi on loan, including a clause that allows for his purchase at the end of the season. It is worth noting that the player was close to transferring to Milan during the last winter transfer window, before the deal fell through in the final stages.
