Jurgen Klopp confirmed during his first press conference as the coach of the German national team that he took on the role out of a desire to serve German football, emphasizing that coaching the "Mannschaft" represents the pinnacle of his coaching career.
Klopp stated: "I do not take this position for myself, but for you. This step is the pinnacle of my career. I know how you dealt with Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick, yet I accepted the task."
He added: "If the German Football Association says that I am no longer the right person, I will leave immediately. But if the criticism goes beyond work and reaches my family, I will also leave."
He continued, saying: "Criticize me if things don't go as expected, that's part of my job, and I'm always ready to work on correcting mistakes. For me, there is no greater position than coaching the German national team, and I hope this role will be the pinnacle of my coaching career."
He continued: "I want us to make changes quietly and without hasty decisions or displays. Few things can unite Germans like the national team, and that makes this task extremely special."
He added: "I have prepared a preliminary list of 57 players that I am monitoring, but I will not reveal any names now. My goal is to bring the German national team back to the top and to present football that befits the history of this jersey. I have great respect for the position of coach of the German national team, and I thank everyone who contributed to making this step possible."
He stated: "I want us to make a change, but without haste or random decisions. We need to build something sustainable... I am not alone; I came with a team I trust, because success in this position is not achieved by one person's effort... I feel a responsibility towards all of German football, not just the national team, and I want to contribute to its development."
He added: "We need to get the German national team back on the right path, but that requires daily work and patience, not just words."
